Through non-linear optical methods such as four-wave mixing and transient grating spectroscopies, his research involves understanding the ultrafast dynamics and transport of charge carriers, spin, and phonons in nanoscale condensed-matter systems. In addition to optical excitation, he will utilise high-energy radiation, which would provide element-specificity in the response, as well as an improved spatial resolution for transport. Fundamental insights into the phenomena mentioned above are crucial in helping maximise the efficiency of high-speed magnetic and opto-electronic devices used in data storage and communication technologies. Ankit has conducted his doctoral research at the Govt of India's Centre for Excellence in Nanoelectronics, housed in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B), India. At IIT-B, he investigated Gallium-Nitride nanostructures (like quantum wells and dots) using ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy. His work provided insights into the dynamics of charge carriers and photons in these systems, which can be helpful in developing faster and more efficient lasers, LEDs, and photodetectors for high-speed optical communication.
