Madrid, 27th february, 2026Students from the Santa María Apóstoles and Lope de Vega schools in Madrid visited IMDEA Nanociencia to tour the facilities and participate in workshops led by various researchers. The visit was part of the “¿Será mi vocación?” program organized by the Community of Madrid's Youth Delegation.

First, Professor Enrique Cánovas, leader of the Nanostructured Photovoltaics research group, gave a talk on IMDEA Nanociencia and then led a workshop specializing in optics.

With regard to the other activities, Dr. Alberto Martín J, from the Nanostructured Functional Surfaces group, led a workshop on Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM). Cristina Navío, a member of the Permanent Magnets and Applications group, dedicated her workshop to Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), while Professor Cristian Svetina, leader of the X-Wave Spectroscopy group, focused on X-ray Free Electron Lasers (xFELs). Finally, Dr. Patricia Pedraz, from the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) Laboratory group, and Dr. África Martinez, from the Advanced Fluorescence Nanoscopy group, developed a workshop on Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).

“¿Será mi vocación?” is a program designed to introduce students to the professional world in a practical, dynamic, and motivating way. Its goal is to help young people discover different fields of study and work, sparking their interest and potential vocations through real-life experiences.
