Madrid, January 19th, 2022. On January 3rd, the European Commission recognized the institute IMDEA Nanociencia with the "HR Excellence in Research” Award. This recognition acknowledges the Institute's commitment to the continuous improvement of human resource management, aimed at achieving a stimulating and favourable environment for researchers. For IMDEA Nanociencia it means a boost to effectively implement the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for The Recruitment of Researchers through a personalised human resources action plan.
The EURAXESS’s "HR Strategy for Researchers" (HRS4R) supports research institutions in the implementation of the 40 principles of the Charter & Code into their human resources policies. The incorporation of these principles render institutions more attractive to researchers looking for a new employer or for a host for their research project.
During the seal award procedure, which began in 2020, the current alignment of human resources policies with the principles of the Charter and the Code was evaluated through a collaborative internal process in which all IMDEA Nanociencia staff were invited to participate. In June 2021, the first Action Plan derived from the internal analysis was presented to the European Commission. The Plan is to be launched within the next two years and to be periodically evaluated. Within the procedure for obtaining the seal, a list of indicators for the verification of the principles of openness, transparency and meritocracy in the selection processes was presented.
IMDEA Nanociencia is a EURAXESS' Contact Point, and as such, it is committed to contributing to the mobility of research and reinforcing the attractiveness and sustainability of the Madrid area as a research destination. On a regular basis, IMDEA Nanociencia provides information and assistance to researchers, from the selection process and throughout their stay; including visa and residence procedures and information, family and day-to-day issues and career development opportunities, among others.
